01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

For a fish-focused lunch, take a look at Kamiya’s daily set meal. Visitors have noted grilled fish and sashimi among the changing options: grilled nukazuke herring one day, and red sea bream sashimi another. One diner who ordered Saikyo-miso-grilled rockfish also mentioned potato salad, a small dish of deep-fried tofu, nukazuke pickles and miso soup with clams, making for a set meal with fish at its heart and plenty alongside it. The lunch menu also includes a daily special, a tuna bowl, a sashimi platter and a set centred on side dishes, so you can decide whether to make the day’s fish, a rice bowl or other dishes the focus.

In the evening, seafood platters and sashimi provide a starting point for choosing a few small plates to go with a drink. Some diners have ordered an assortment of shellfish and sashimi; another particularly enjoyed sake-steamed clams. There are plenty of options for building a meal around seafood. One visitor chose yakisoba to finish, while the menu also offers a rice-porridge set to round off a hot pot.

Drinks include sake, beer and highballs, as well as Denki Bran. One diner’s account of asking the staff for a pairing recommendation may be useful if you’d like help choosing a drink to go with your food. For a solo visit, one person describes sitting at the counter in front of the kitchen and watching the dishes being prepared.
